In-reply-to » Assuming the DNS is playing ball now, my little personal site https://www.andrewjvpowell.com/ is now self hosted and solar powered. As @mckinley can attest, running on the original nearlyfreespeech.net non-production plan could use as little as $0.01 per day so there's not really any advantage to this, its just... because I can 🙃

a simple Makefile for forwarding internet to your local machine:

SSH_HOST=https://xuu.me
PRIV_KEY=~/.ssh/id_ed25519
forward:
	LOCAL_PORT=$(HOST_PORT); sh -c "$(shell http --form POST $(SSH_HOST) pub=@$(PRIV_KEY).pub | grep ^ssh | head -1 | awk '{ print "ssh -T -p " $$4 " " $$5 " -R " $$7 " -i $(PRIV_KEY)"  }')"

In-reply-to » Any of y'all seen https://briarproject.org? It's another fledgling decentralized chat like session but minus the weird blockchain.. it has group chat, forums, and blogs. Also can work via Bluetooth or tor.

Seems a iOS is being looked into but because it has no central server it can’t do background app like iOS requires.

In-reply-to » Ok, got the site back up at least https://www.mkws.sh/. The long delay wasn't caused by technical difficulties but by me feeling tired.

Don’t think I can get to 300eur but could probably get 50usd/mo for the pool

In-reply-to » I keep going back 'n' forth on whether to experiment with Pleroma on my Pi. :-) A Tildes post on the sad news that Feneas is struggling has rekindled the fire, oddly. I just like knowing, first-hand, what's involved in running these services; I feel it makes me a better yarn.social advocate. ^⨰^

I had a Pleroma node up for a little bit. It sort of died for some reason a few months later because its resource usage kept going up.
