In-reply-to » Now that’s interesting. Some of these bots start crawling at URLs like this:

Chances are the database bought wasn’t cheap at all and was aold by some scam company that probably ripped them from six figures or more for a database that’s full of rubbish. 🤣

In-reply-to » RIP Android:

To combat malware and financial scams, Google announced today that only apps from developers that have undergone verification can be installed on certified Android devices starting in 2026.

This requirement applies to “certified Android devices” that have Play Protect and are preloaded with Google apps. The Play Store implemented similar requirements in 2023, but Google is now mandating this for all install methods, including third-party app stores and sideloading where you download an APK file from a third-party source.

In-reply-to » "A handbag belonging to the homeland security secretary Kristi Noem containing her passport, department security badge and $3,000 in cash was stolen on Sunday night at a restaurant in Washington, the department confirmed."

@bender@twtxt.net This story just reminds me of the couple of times we’ve paid for things in cash 💰 💲 and the stupid banks with the ridiculous “scam alert policy” ask you all kind of dumb ass questions about what you need the cash for 🤦‍♂️ One of these days I need an excuse to buy something that costs a few $k just so I can answer when asked, “what do you need the cash for?” to which my response will be “drugs and hookers of course!” 🤣

AI problems, top to bottom:

1: Open AI nerds, believe fine tuning a language model algorithm, will eventually produce an AGI god.

2: Subpar artists and techbros who can’t code, convinced AI image bashing and vibe coding, will help convince the dumber parts of Internet, they are a real deal.

3: Parasites, using AI to scam people, because they just want passive income, selling crap, made by an automated process.

Side: Adobe&co, killing Flash/old web, pricing new artists and developers out, to face learning curves of free tools, or use AI, peddled as solution.

In-reply-to » Quite predictably, the introduction of Chat GPT, has led to even more browser bloat. 🎉

@thecanine@twtxt.net wow this is horrifying. What happened to Opera? It used to be my favorite browser but now they’re like that one cousin who started getting into drugs, and then got in trouble with the law, and then before you know it they’re scamming old ladies out of their pension money.

Quite predictably, the introduction of Chat GPT, has led to even more browser bloat. 🎉

Also since I’m already bringing up opera - I have genuinely no idea, what their dev team is smoking, as all their additions this year, have been this desperate:

From some cashback scam and TikTok integration…

…all the way to some “lonely men bait” and adding NFTs - a full year, after everyone stopped caring.

In-reply-to » What do you feel when you listen to something you didn't believe it's true?

@eaplmx@twtxt.net This exact thing happened to me last night. I happened to be watching some random Youtube video, then this Ad came on, normally they are short 3-5s ads and I just tolerate them (sometimes) – But this particular ad was 20+ mins long! Somehow I kept listening to it too, despite my daughter telling me I could hit that “Skip Ad” button.

What was it you ask?! 😅 It was one of those testimonial-style, hyped up marketing videos of some product called “Gemini 2” (a currency trading app, allegedly), I kept watching all the way through, it was fantastic! 🤣

Then I went and read up on it! …

Short answer: TOTAL FUCKING SCAM 🤣

In-reply-to » @brasshopper bitcoin 🤮 that's a hard no from me

-1 for the negative on environment all that electricity uses. Still waiting on proof of stake.

It is also too overrun with Tech Bros scamming people to get rich quick.

It was a fun ride back when I first bought in. But I have since cached out for my lambos and such.
