I’m still on a deckbuilding kick, so I was thrilled that we managed to get 3 games of Magic in last night.

In game 1, my Marvel Villains deck couldn’t stand up to Doctor Who’s Missy and her army of Cybermen (and Daleks). Since someone else was playing a dark lord Sauron deck, I guess that means she’s even more “villainous” that anything Marvel or Tolkien could offer.

For game 2, I ran my Guardians of the Multiverse deck (formerly known as The B-Vengers or Marvel Heroes 2: Electric Bugaloo). It was working well, and I had quite an army going, but I was still one turn from a win when an opponent’s tribal elf deck went off, killing everyone with 19 19/19 forest-walking elves. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Then in game 3, I ran my Avengers deck, and finally got the win thanks to a Heroes’ Podium, a pair of Hawkeyes, and a flying, shield-wielding Captain America. Assemble, indeed.

Last night will likely be my final Marvel-only game night for a while. I still need to test the decks out some more, but they’re basically complete (I don’t currently plan on adding any more cards to them). Plus, while I’m on this kick, I’d like to finally finish my Sauron deck, and I’ve got some cards on order for both a Dune-themed deck and a couple of decks inspired by the old-school Beatdown Box.

Apologies folks 😅 A bit of a bad electrical storm rolled through earlier. 🌩️ I looked kind of bad⚡️ so I powered down the Mills DC 🤟 (out of precation).

I have a feeling that learning to play electric double bass through an amplifier was a big mistake.

At the core, this is an acoustic instrument. If you play it through an amp, you will instinctively only do the bare minimum to get some sound going, because the amp does the heavy lifting. But it’s just not right.

This is a very physical instrument. It needs a lot of force and strength – in comparison, an electric bass guitar is almost flimsy and delicate. I need to “feel” what’s going on and that’s just not the case when using headphones.

I feel like I wasted ~3 years. 🫤 But maybe it’ll get better from now on …

This is just one instrument: Electric bass guitar + EBow. And echo/delay on top. But it’s a single track, single take. It amazes me quite a bit how much you can do with that little thing. 🤯

Heck yeah, you managed to be in the front rows. :-) I never heard about Rilo Kiley before, but the two songs I just listened to are good. Something to relax to.

Ended up watching Electric Dreams (1984) to celebrate my first GNU contribution. Such a great movie! Soundtrack and visuals spot on.

In Spain there is a lot of dependence on renewable energies and this is a problem for maintaining the voltage in the network. Thus, a 60% loss was lost for 5 seconds. In cascade, the circuit breakers were automatically switched off.

In Spain, electricity has already been restored. Amazing experience! Luckily, I will only have to throw away some food. But there are stories of all kinds. It has been 12 hours where we have gone back to the middle ages.

i recorded my first camcorder video!!!! it’s just me practicing guitar after sooo long of not playing it. my acoustic, to be specific (well, it’s an electric acoustic thing but i can play it without plugging it in lol, i do have a stratocaster though). it’s capped at ~30 minutes because i used one mini DVD for it and decided i wasn’t gonna use another one to extend the run time. so yeah. it was super fun! i hope i can share it soon, i’m ripping the disc with make MKV right now, then i’ll re-encode to a web friendly format, and upload to my site and hope that works well

It seems silly to me that we humans create thermal energy with coal, convert the thermal energy to mechanical energy with steam turbines, convert the mechanical energy to electrical energy with generators, and convert the electrical energy back into thermal energy with glass-top stoves and electric heaters.

Not anymore 😭. I still have a self-propelled one, and electric, which is very nice. But when you live under an almost constant 32-35℃, with super high humidity, you cease liking working outside pretty quick.
