In-reply-to » I went to check on the fireflies this season. But I didn't see any. Instead lots of moths. At first, I thought it might have been still too light, but it was already dark enough for me to miss and destroy a snail shell. Bummer. Maybe it was too wet tonight. Although, it's probably just another or two weeks until my glowing friends will finally show up.

After the last two days were dry and a tad warmer, I left the house a few minutes later to check again. It was similar to last time. One deer on the pasture that didn’t run off, it was roughly 15-20 meters away, a bit further than the day before yesterday. Probably even the same individual. Many moths, zero fireflies and another two deer on the mown meadow when I left the forest. Those were closer to 50 and 100 meters away and evenutally escaped into the woods. The same street lamps were off, too.

The lovely smell of cut grass was in the air. Venus and Jupiter reflected brightly in the West. What a stroll, I call that a great success. :-)

In-reply-to » To combat malware and financial scams, Google announced today that only apps from developers that have undergone verification can be installed on certified Android devices starting in 2026.

@prologic@twtxt.net, the very first sentence addresses something that needed to be addressed. Maybe tech savvy people will not have these issues, but many non-tech savvy people (and old people) I know has had, and has, cyclically, a myriad of malware, pestware, etc., issues on their Android based phones. It is a wild-west.

In-reply-to » Today's stroll was really nice. Just around 11km in total I'd reckon. We had a barbie at a mate's garden where everybody went on a hunt for an easter basket. Oh boy, what a preparation that must have been! Baking the bunnies, dying the eggs, mixing the bear leek butter and so on. That's dedication, let me tell you. :-)

@bender@twtxt.net Thanks! The rain rapidly cooled off the 17°C to just 10°C. I certainly appreciated that. The weather is coming from the west here, so I thought you’ve sent it our way. Let me try to return it. :-)

Ahh yes, what I like to call “wild wild west” upgrading.😂
Felt like that when I upgraded/updated an Arch Linux machine that had been sitting for a couple years unused.

In-reply-to » 3°C today, it was quite nice in the sun. A lot of hunting and tree felling going on in the forest. And we met the heron again, that was very cool: https://lyse.isobeef.org/waldspaziergang-2024-12-28/

@movq@www.uninformativ.de No, that was a wide open field, absolutely nowhere to hide. I reckon it was just a very brave individual. We somehow managed to radiate a sense of calm. :-) It might have been the same heron I saw the other days a few hundred meters west.
