@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Now that you mention it, there is some steam from manholes in the winter. 🤔 This is all energy that gets lost … I don’t know how much of it, but it’s lost. 🤷♀️
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org thank you! I got visual now! 🙈 Now, you had to pull out a pic from winter, to make those of us constantly burning in “hell” jealous, eh? 😂
I’ll go through Winter thinking I don’t suffer from seasonal depression, then see a single ray of sunshine at the start of March and feel as if I’ve just been resurrected.
Just showelled 20cm of snow for half an hour, fuck me! I’m totally shattered. But it’s worth it. Looks so beautiful. And all the disbelief and terror in the eyes of the people. Well, that’s what our winters were like three decades ago. I’m just glad that I can work from home.

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Oh yeah, there’s lots of them here. Even in winter when it’s freezing outside. I’m always baffled to see parrots in the snow … feels like a paradox. 🥴
It’s winter!
@xuu@txt.sour.is as long as I see you on IRC, bouncer or not, I don’t worry. Weird, isn’t it? Glad you are OK, Winter’s coming!
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Kommt auf meine Leseliste. Ist ja eh bald Winter.
the winter its coming #BCN
Since 2020, I’ve been putting together one playlist every year, in which each track represents one month of that year. However, I also have assigned each season two specific songs, which do not change year-to-year: Spring: “A Little Bit Of Love” by Weezer and “Gretel” by Alex G; Summer: “Dumb” by Roe Kapara and “Endless Bummer” by Weezer; Autumn: “1979” by The Smashing Pumpkins and “The Dead Come Talking” by Roe Kapara; Winter: “Red Water (Christmas Mourning)” by Type O Negative and “Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End)” by The Darkness
Today we were in the garden and built a shelter by the house for the firewood. So we are already well prepared for the winter.
@prologic@twtxt.net This looks really nice! I love the view. For a brief second, the rock in the left bottom corner of the first photo reminded me of a croc tail. These are some massive cliffs, I get the impression that walking down there feels cool during the heat. Yeah, it’s winter over there, but it cooled me off by just looking at it. :-) Oh no, somebody lost their hat.
@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz Ta! The dead end wasn’t all that bad in my opinion. Personally, I really do like dirt paths and exploring. It was all dried up, so no muddy mess we had to walk through. More like climbing over thick branches that have been worked into the ground by harvesters or forwarders in the muddy winter. Rough terrain. My mate, on the other hand – whose idea it was to check out the real summit in the first place ;-) — wasn’t all that pleased about the detour. Oh well. :-D
“The Tree”™ in last winter:
Now it’s getting greener:
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org I walked under 25°C during my lunch hour today, but with a sunshine that could fry an egg if dropped on the asphalt. I told a friend in Manila about it, and she told me that 25°C is Winter/Christmas temperatures for them. I felt cooler right away. :-)
@arne@uplegger.eu Hals- und Beinbruch! Die Bahn hat ja nur die vier Feinde: Frühling, Sommer, Herbst und Winter. Wurdest Du heute positiv überrascht?
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org I don’t remember exactly. They might have been growing all winter. The trick is to have a badly insulated extension to the house.
@falsifian@www.falsifian.org Oh, that’s neat! Interesting how “obviously” isn’t all that obvious at all, even to the contrary. I reckon I have to read up on that subject on the weekend. :-)
I like how Ian’s and your photo complement each other, winter and summer join forces for something special. :-)

I couldn’t resist taking home a prize:

It’s been snowy here in #Toronto.

(I tried formatting the images in markdown for the benefit of yarn and any other clients that understand it.)
@bender@twtxt.net I always schedule the next appointment right away. :-) Yeah, over here, it’s just winter. Nothing really surprising. But it gets us every time. I prefer the ice over the the fire for sure.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de That was the only time I left the house today.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de It’s crazy! I thought about it the other day on my hike. There are so many shady areas in winter that are fully blasted by the sun in summer.
Noon in summer:

And noon in winter:

The difference never fails to make me go “whoa”. 😅
It’s getting Winter-y. Here’s that tree again: https://movq.de/v/07262a1e12/IMG_20241229_142030.jpg-small.jpg
Es hört sich an wie Frühling und fühlt sich an wie Herbst: Es muss wohl Winter sein.

Alright. My first mentions—which were picked not so randomly, LOL—are @prologic@twtxt.net, @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org, and @movq@www.uninformativ.de. I am also posting my first image too, which you see below. That’s my neighbourhood, in a “winter” day. Hopefully @prologic@twtxt.net will add my domain to his allowed list, so that the image (and any other further) renders.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de wow! We are “lucky” today, only 27°C here, 87% humidity, overcast, and raining sporadically. Thanks to the rain our temperatures aren’t high, but muggy nevertheless. I am ready for our winter too, you know, that whole week. LOL.
35°C and rising … can haz winter?

The river was frozen for a few weeks this winter (somehow I even saw folks ice fishing at one point) but melted away again pretty fast. NOAA is saying now it’s probably not going to freeze again this year. Wow.
seems to be a gentle winter morning here, well over an hour before sunrise

If snow fall on the mountains is reducing so much, and this snow acted as a water reservoir formed in Winter to get through the warmer, dry summers, then we should start creating huge water reservoirs on top of mountains; pumping the water up there when it rains.
Wondering that part of the charm and attraction of Christmas markets could come from a common nostalgia towards every day street markets in towns and a longing for more outside social life during the cold, clammy Winter days.
The first cold days of Winter are upon us.

@abucci@anthony.buc.ci buuuuut it show when winter!
In the time scale viewed from the planets perspective, the climate has changed many many times.. The issue is whether that change that will inevitability come is hospitable to us meat bags. Or if we are doomed to take part in the next mass extinction event.
Doing alright. Getting thru winter. How are you?
❤️ 🎶: ONCE AGAIN by WINTER, NINGNING
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org that’s as good as it gets for Winter here. I mean, leaves will fall, but that’s about it.
