@movq@www.uninformativ.de NASM is great. I remember playing with it back in my HS days. It has lots of little helps to make assembly more approachable.
Pinellas County - Long Run: 8.50 miles, 00:08:53 average pace, 01:15:32 duration
nice run in the rain. spoke to a soldier humping his way through the park in preparation for special forces training. overall run was great, but i did land funny on my left leg which made it sore for the next day or so.

Sad to see moc removed from the official arch linux repos, but also cool to learn the debian project has been quietly patching it and keeping it up to date in recent years. Long live the music on console player. (And debian!) :-)
I finally found the NASM assembler.
I had heard that name before, many times, but somehow never looked into it. Weird. 🤨🤔
This is the kind of program I was looking for.
- It is free software. Especially in the DOS ecosystem, free/libre software is a very scarce resource.
- It’s a small command line program, not a huge behemoth.
- Documentation appears to be well written.
- It can even cross-compile DOS binaries from Linux.

The river was frozen for a few weeks this winter (somehow I even saw folks ice fishing at one point) but melted away again pretty fast. NOAA is saying now it’s probably not going to freeze again this year. Wow.

Pinellas County - Tempo: 5.00 miles, 00:08:27 average pace, 00:42:16 duration
looks like my HR did it again… at about 2 miles in it went from 137 to 150. something must be wrong which sucks because now i cannot trust it. the run was pretty good and definitely felt like a tempo.

Pinellas County - Easy: 3.13 miles, 00:08:27 average pace, 00:26:24 duration
felt crazy relaxed and easy breathing. i did notice at around the mile and a half point (11:30 in?) my HR jumped. around this time i also noticed i had to switch to more mouth breathing because my nose was running. going to try to take note of this because if it is a fault on the watch side then i can not consider it a reliable measurement.

St Petersburg Distance Classic Marathon: 26.41 miles, 00:11:23 average pace, 05:00:39 duration
first marathon down. everything that could go wrong did. honestly i am just proud i did not quit. now i have to look at the run and figure out what i can tweak or add to my training. had a cramp start in my right quad at around mile 15. then around mile 18 both of my calves started to feel odd as if someone was lightly strumming my tendons. then they seized! this continued for the remainder of the marathon where i would walk then try to run and then stop when i had to. then during the entirety of the pace my nose would not stop dripping making it difficult to breathe. ha! also my shorts almost came down twice and i had to re-tie them while carrying my handheld water in my teeth. seriously, so many things i did not expect and had not happened in any previous runs.
really happy to be able to eat spicy food and have some alcoholic beverages again though!

Pinellas County - Shakeout: 3.01 miles, 00:08:34 average pace, 00:25:48 duration
felt good to be running. little twinge in the knee but i do not think it was anything to note. the run was easy and just chilled with the music. HR spiked for some reason on the last half mile but whatever.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de its always fun to look back on old projects. I talked to an old coworker about a codebase i made back in 2010 that still has lots of the same architecture i built into it back then and is still in heavy use.
I noticed that some of my software projects have a rather long lifetime, so I made a little graph:

Easy: 5.03 miles, 00:09:11 average pace, 00:46:10 duration
easy peasy. tested out the new handheld water bottle. i think it went well.

went out easy. HR was around 149 until stopping for a traffic light. afterwards it was consistently mid- to high- 160’s. overall effort was still minimal, but maybe higher HR was due to the congestion i seem to have picked up the last couple of days?
