@movq@www.uninformativ.de haha! I’m sure they had fun working around stuff like nineight
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Dang. Really going overboard with this!
@prologic@twtxt.net I didn’t have to do much backtracking. I parsed into an AST-ish table and then just needed some lookups.
The part 2 was pretty easy to work into the AST after.

@xuu@txt.sour.is Ah, you went with the “scanning” approach as well. I did that, too.
It’s quite surprising to see (imho) how many people on reddit started substituting strings (one becomes 1 etc.). That makes the puzzle much harder by introducing nasty corner cases.
(Maybe I was just lucky this time to pick the correct approach right from the start. 🤣 Or maybe it’s a bit of experience from doing past AoC events …)

Pinellas County - Long run: 11.54 miles, 00:10:09 average pace, 01:57:14 duration
kind of sucked. should have waited another day and gave my body an actual rest because my legs were tired as fuck. did the park-to-park route which was cool. the second park was cool because it had a lot of walkways and a neat tower thing so did a bit of tourist mode there. the last leg of the run was brutal and just did not have the motivation.

@slashdot@feeds.twtxt.net I feel like this is a bit of a common pattern? Company builds an awesome product, makes it free for a lot of users, then create additional features and paid plans, makes a tonne of money. But then later decide they need to make more money, so focus on converting the free users to paid users. Hmmm 🤔 Surely this can’t be the only viable business model? 🤔
Evernote Pushes Users To Upgrade
After making steep cuts to personnel earlier this year, Evernote’s Milan-based owner Bending Spoons is now experimenting with a new plan that would push more users to upgrade to paid versions of its service. From a report: The company confirmed to TechCrunch it’s been running a small test that placed limits on the number of notes free users could create, but said the new plan is not yet finalized. fun workout but should have put the reps from 5 to 10. only had to stop twice to cough up a lung, but otherwise felt okay for getting over a cold.

Neat.. Gitea cloud for a hosted alternative to github and gitlab. https://blog.gitea.com/gitea-cloud/

Interesting thing happening over on Xitter. Apparently some of the women in tech accounts are being exposed as being run by men that hire women to pose for images/videos. They would be invited to tech conferences but would always drop out last minute.

Makes me wonder if maybe there is need for a sort of verifiable web of trust is needed where influencers can be proven as authentic by others. This will only get worse as AI generative content gets pushed into our feeds.
Plex Users Fear New Feature Will Leak Porn Habits To Their Friends and Family
Many Plex users were alarmed when they got a “week in review” email last week that showed them what they and their friends had watched on the popular media server software. From a report: Some users are saying that their friends’ softcore porn habits are being revealed to them with the feature, while others are horrified … ⌘ Read more
