To my limited knowledge, Keyoxide is an open source project offering different tools for verifying one’s online persona(s). That’s done by either A) creating an Ariande Profile using the web interface, a CLI. or B) Just using your GPG key. Either way, you add in Identity claims to your different profiles, links and whatnot, and finally advertise your profile … Then there is a second set of Mobile/Web clients and CLI your correspondents can use to check your identity claims. I think of them like the front-ends of GPG Keyservers (which keyoxide leverages for verification when you opt for the GPG Key method), where you verify profiles using links, Key IDs and Fingerprints…

Who maintains cox site? Is it centralized or decentralized can be relied upon?

• Both ASP and Keyoxide Webtools can be self-hosted. I don’t see a central authority here… + As mentioned on their FAQ page the whole process can be done manually, so you don’t have to relay on any one/thing if you don’t want to, the whole thing is just another tool for convenience (with a bit of eye candy).

Nop. But it looks like a nice option to prove that I’m the same person to whom that may concern if I ever change my Twtxt URL, host/join a yarn pod or if I reach out on other platforms to someone I’ve met in her. Otherwise I’m just happy exchanging GPG keys or confirm the change IRL at a coffee shop or something. 😁

When we passed a few horses in the forest, there was really strong soup odor in the air. It didn’t smell like horse at all, but soup. Maybe they’ve been soup horses, chickens were out of stock.

1. It is free software. Especially in the DOS ecosystem, free/libre software is a very scarce resource.
   
2. It’s a small command line program, not a huge behemoth.
   
3. Documentation appears to be well written.
   
4. It can even cross-compile DOS binaries from Linux.

Update on my Fibre to the Premise upgrade (FTTP). NBN installer came out last week to install the NTD and Utility box, after some umming and arring, we figured out the best place to install it. However this mean he wasn’t able to look it up to the Fibre in the pit, and required a 2nd team to come up and trench a new trench and conduit and use that to feed Fibre from the pit to the utility box.

I rang up my ISP to find out when this 2nd team was booked, only to discover to my horror and the horror of my ISP that this was booked a month out on the 2rd Feb 2024! 😱

After a nice small note from my provider to NBN, suddenly I get a phone call and message from an NBN team that do trenching to say it would be done on Saturday (today). That got completed today (despite the heavy rain).

Now all that’s left is a final NBN tech to come and hook the two fibre pieces together and “light it up”! 🥳

whew, rough plan was 3 miles warm-up, then 1 mile on/off at 8:30 pace, then cool down the rest of the way. little bit fast for some intervals, and boy did that bridge wipe me out (the third interval?). during the cool down had to stop to find tissues and also going up the final bridge. not trying to kill myself being i still have parental duties with it being christmas eve and all. overall it was a great outing if i must say so.

Dammit annoying nymph, I finally got you! #nethack

@movq@www.uninformativ.de I lasted for a long time.. Not sure where or when it was “got”. We had been having a cold go around with the kiddos for about a week when the wife started getting sicker than normal. Did a test and she was positive. We tested the rest of the fam and got nothing. Till about 2 days later and myself and the others were positive. It largely hasn’t been too bad a little feaver and stuffy noses.

But whatever it was that hit a few days ago was horrible. Like whatever switch in my head that goes to sleep mode was shut off. I would lay down and even though I felt sleepy, I couldn’t actually go to sleep. The anxiety hit soon after and I was just awake with no relief. And it persisted that way for three nights. I got some meds from the clinic that seemed to finally get me to sleep.

Now the morning after I realized for all that time a part of me was missing. I would close my eyes and it would just go dark. No imagination, no pictures, nothing. Normally I can visualize things as I read or think about stuff.. But for the last few days it was just nothing. The waking up to it was quite shocking.

Though its just the first night.. I guess I’ll have to see if it persists. 🤞

Finally getting around to cleaning up and updating my todo.txt file. Maybe I should put a task in there to remind me to check it.

mmm, enjoyed it. at 0100 this morning i woke up to my right calf seizing (not sure if that is the right term). when i finally got up at 0500-ish to prep for the run it was still tight (still is hours later) but stretching helped out a bunch. do not think it affected the run really though. that or i just did not care because i was enjoying the low humidity too much.

Thing is, Linux as a desktop operating system sucked in 1996 yet I adopted it then anyway because I wanted nothing to do with MS anymore 😆 I know it’s not for everyone but I’m pretty tolerant of a less-than-stellar experience if it means I can be free of big-company garbage.

we finally got a little rain yesterday. we are on the edge of drought.

I’m just hoping the Panthers can turn it around in the Finals. As a Lightning fan it wouldn’t be devastating if VGK won, but I’m rooting for Florida.

My desktop computer developed a really annoying vibration-induced buzzing sound a few months ago after I added some hard drives to it. It was one of these where it’d be more or less quiet, and then all of a sudden a buzzing would start. If you tapped the case, it often made the buzzing stop.

One by one I went through my components, and the day before yesterday I finally identified the guilty party, one particular HDD. Currently I have the case open and a piece of cardboard jammed under the drive in its tray. The computer has not buzzed since I did that, so it looks to me like securing that drive better will finally end this madness-inducing sound.

Wild that it takes so long to track down something like this and figure out what to do about it.

JUHU! Finally! The new NAS runs. Oh boy what a process. First I had to restart and redow everything three times. Sometimes things are not sooo super obvious and then you really mess up. Who decided at Asustor that you cannot move home folders off of the Volume 1? And Why are the Asustor apps so bad? Beside that, the machine, the NAS, is really nice. Updraded to 16GB RAM and I finally have NGINX PROXY MANAGER running. Now I can setup all services with nice names!

I guess Google Hangouts is finally dead.

Why is Google such a mess at making messaging apps? This has more or less been a solved problem for decades. Google Talk worked well enough, and since it was based on XMPP and Jingle it was perfectly suited to become a large-scale text/voice/video messaging system. If they’d run with that they’d have been able to dominate that space, I think. Instead, they’ve created and shitcanned half a dozen messaging apps and platforms, flailing around copying someone else’s app (now they’re trying to copy Slack I guess).
