We went on a 14 kilometers long hike in the heat, only a few spots were in the shade, most of our trip was in the open fields with the sun beating down on us. We reapplied the sun blocker after about two hours or so. All in all it took us about three and a half hours before we reached our destination Besigheim.
Last time I was there it was rainy, now we had the exact opposite. After some yummy Chinese lunch we visited the old town. There’s some gorgeous timer framing to see. When kept in decent shape, it just looks so dang cool.
Since it was too hot, we rode back by train. Despite the heat and some sections near the roaring Autobahn, this was a nice hike. Would do it again. Only in colder weather, though. I certainly don’t wanna trade my comperatively larger (still nothing to other more rural areas), covering forests with the wide open fields and vineyards in summer. That’s for sure.

Confession:
I’ve never found microblogging like twtxt or the Fediverse or any other “modern” social media to be truly fulfilling/satisfying.
The reason is that it is focused so much on people. You follow this or that person, everybody spends time making a nice profile page, the posts are all very “ego-centric”. Seriously, it feels like everybody is on an ego-trip all the time (this is much worse on the Fediverse, not so much here on twtxt).
I miss the days of topic-based forums/groups. A Linux forum here, a forum about programming there, another one about a certain game. Stuff like that. That was really great – and it didn’t even suffer from the need to federate.
Sadly, most of these forums are dead now. Especially the nerds spend a lot of time on the Fediverse now and have abandoned forums almost completely.
On Mastodon, you can follow hashtags, which somewhat emulates a topic-based experience. But it’s not that great and the protocol isn’t meant to be used that way (just read the snac2 docs on this issue). And the concept of “likes” has eliminated lots of the actual user interaction. ☹️
Just had a freak storm ⛈️ with lots of horizontal rain ☔️ that took out and tripped our internal RCD (again) 😱 Took out our Fibre too (servers were fine, good ‘ol UPS). Need to get a UPS for the Fibre box 📦 Haha 🤣
@david@collantes.us If I run

I have xqfsv6a

But… If I change de date to 2025-04-16T22:49:11Z
I have si4er3q

@andros@twtxt.andros.dev the hash on @aelaraji@aelaraji.com’s last message (as I type this) is:
[si4er3q] [2025-04-16 22:49:11+00:00] [Am I tripping or `rsync` is actually THIS effing faster than `scp`!!? 🫨]
So, si4er3q
Am I tripping or rsync
is actually THIS effing faster than scp

We’ve been on a trip to another city this weekend and one thing struck me as really odd:
The lack of “public water” in our cities.
Almost no way of washing your hands or going to the toilet or whatever. You can’t even pee in a bush, because a) that’s illegal and b) there are no bushes!
(It’s always been that way, I just never noticed before. 🥴)
This 8 bit trip is really cool! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCm1fKZGvl47
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org The bird in the wallpaper? That’s a photo from a trip to a local zoo. 😃 This little guy was sitting in one of the bushes and didn’t mind people getting rather close. Full version and more from that day.
It’s extremely surprising to me that younger non-technical people just type in their full name (properly cased first and last name with a space in between) for a technical username in account registration or login forms. I’ve seen that happening several times in the past few years. The field name is “Benutzername” in German, literally “username”. Even adding a placeholder text to signal that they could simply use their nickname in lowercase did not change anything at all. Well, one person used at least an e-mail address.
This wasn’t the case six, seven years ago, everybody had some “real” username. Even non-techies. It looks like some “common knowledge” is getting lost. Strange. Very weird. It trips me every time I see it.
Have you experienced something similar?
Business trips / Off-Sites can be rather exhausting 😴
We had a very sunny day, peaking at 19°C. This not only decoyed me out, but also plenty motorcycle terrorists. Eh fuckwits, nobody wants to listen to your bloody engine and exhaust noise, keep it quiet for fuck’s sake! Many of your rider collegues can manage it, too, so should you.
I had some sore muscles after yesterday’s waste paper collection with the scouts. So, I only went for a short trip to my closest backyard mountain. Watching two rock climbers was interesting. That’s not something I see very often.

body was a bit worn out today. switched it up to walk-run after about 5 miles because i have a daddy-daughter dance this afternoon and did not want to be too stiff. met another runner who actually only lives about a mile or less from me. maybe i will try to meet with him after my business trip next week.

@aelaraji@aelaraji.com didn’t know there was a place to fix them; in here we toss them. Wish it was cheap to ship stuff. I have a couple of decent monitors in the garage that will soon take a trip to the curve…
I love shell scripts because they’re so pragmatic and often allow me to get jobs done really quickly.
But sadly they’re full of pitfalls. Pitfalls everywhere you look.
Today, a coworker – who’s highly skilled, not a newbie by any means – ran into this:
$ bash -c 'set -u; foo=bar; if [[ "$foo" -eq "bar" ]]; then echo it matches; fi'
bash: line 1: bar: unbound variable
Why’s that happening? I know the answer. Do you? 😂
Stuff like that made me stop using shell scripts at work, unless they’re just 4 or 5 lines of absolutely trivial code. It’s now Python instead, even though the code is often much longer and clunkier, but at least people will understand it more easily and not trip over it when they make a tiny change.
going thru my own old drawings, exploring those distant worlds, like an archaeologist. tracing origins and evolutions #draw #art #trip #mind
funny how looking at someone’s sketchbook might very well be like looking at an entire hidden world #art #draw #trip #phyilosophy
I was reading something to make a little pause from work. I saw a gnat on the screen. I thought ‘wow imagine how’s it perceiving the screen-space world’. So I went on and browsed Shadertoy for an hour LoL #shader #visual #trip #psychedelic #coding
One year ago to the date I made the lastest update for #phpub2twtxt to github and now 365 days later I have published #pixelblog as its successor - lets see where things are going for trip around the sun
Today I swapped out our water heater for a new hybrid one. It took twice as long as it should have and 3 extra trips to the hardware store, but it doesn’t seem to be leaking and is producing hot water, so 🎉🎊🎇
Using termux on a 5-inch screen with a graffitti keyboard is a trip. A slow one.
@tx@0x1A4.1337.cx thats gotta be a head trip.
