I’ve just released version 1.0 of twtxt.el (the Emacs client), the stable and final version with the current extensions. I’ll let the community maintain it, if there are interested in using it. I will also be open to fix small bugs.
I don’t know if this twt is a goodbye or a see you later. Maybe I will never come back, or maybe I will post a new twt this afternoon. But it’s always important to be grateful. What will become of me? I have created a twtxt fork called Texudus (https://texudus.readthedocs.io/). I want to continue learning on my own without the legacy limitations or technologies that implement twtxt. It’s not a replacement for any technology, it’s just my own little lab. I have also made a fork of my own client and will be focusing on it for a while. I don’t expect anyone to use it, but feedback is always welcome.

@prologic @bender @eapl.me I think opening another file is a bad idea because it adds complexity to the clients, breaks the single feed and I think keeping legacy clients will be more complex to add new features in the future. A modern approach is important.
I'll be honest, I'm a bit tired of the fight around the direct message. Perhaps, we can remove it as an extension and use the alternative @prologic . My suggestion apparently doesn't like to the community. I have no problem with remove it.

@bender@twtxt.net I use it. It’s not the feature I use the most in the fediverse, but I communicate this way with several friends. For example, it’s the main way I talk to the original creator of the twtxt-el repository, the way people greet me for the first time or the way they notify me of some bugs in the software I maintain. I can even tell you that it’s the main way I talk to some maintainers of the Emacs community. If there are any of you reading my words, speak up!
Why not have the same? There are things I want to say to @prologic@twtxt.net in private, why should I have to send him an email or private IRC? Or an public twt.
Of course, here’s a topic we’ve already talked about: what is twtxt for you? For me it will always be a social network, in microblogging format, but an asynchronous way of communicating. And having a tool to control visibility is basic 😄

I am currently fixing an important bug that break the timeline in some cases and I am working around direct messages.

@andros@twtxt.andros.dev I don’t see a burst of new twtxt clients popping up. Yeah, the most recent ones are TwtxtReader and twtxt-el. Did I miss one? I agree with @david@collantes.us, looks normal to me. :-)
I’m also working on my rewrite at the moment, but that started… *looking at the git history*… oh wow! O_o Over two years ago! I just implemented jumping to the next/previous unread message.
I have released new updates to the twtxt.el client.
- Markdown to Org mode (you need to install Pandoc).
- Centred column.
- Added new logo.
- Added text helper.
The new version I will try to finish the visual thread. You still can’t see the thread yet.

I don't think so, at least the tests I did passed. If you're pretty sure it's a bug, please create an issue in the repository with the specific case and I'll investigate it.
There are 2 buttons to make replicas, one makes a replica in the thread where the twt is located (this is the one that should be used the most, as it serves a thread), the other creates a replica to a specific twt.
I'll let you know a bit about the status: I'm just now implementing the thread screen. There you can be sure where you are. It's a bit confusing right now, sorry. I think the client is still in alpha. When I've finished what I'm doing, and the direct message system, I'll freeze development and focus on creating more tests, looking for bugs and making small visual adjustments.

@andros@twtxt.andros.dev hmmm… pretty strange, isn’t it? replaying to threads worked perfectly, I’ve only had that problem trying to replay to a twt that was part of a thread.
As an example, this one is a Fork-Replay from Jenny. My next twt will be a replay to this exact twt but from twtxt-el as a test.
Then I’will file an issue if it doesn’t behave the way it’s supposed to. Cheers!

Here’s a twt from @andros@twtxt.andros.dev ’s new version of Twtxt-el 🥳 It feels WAaaaaY better! although it freezes on me as soon as I navigate to the next page complaining about some bad url, but the chronological sorting of the feed as well as the navigation buttons (links?) are a great addition. Looking forward to the next update already! 😁 🥳🥳🥳
I have managed to make the fetching of feeds asynchronous. To do this I have set up a small system of task queue. All requests are executed at the same time! 🚀
