It is a lovely view! That’s home office, or work office? I am hoping the second, though I do not know Norway’s days and nights well. I know that Sweden can get pretty dark, or pretty light, for long periods of time.
No new iMacs, or Mac minis. I really wanted a new iMac with the new SoC, and a bigger screen. Not this time. 😩

Are all minimum requirements met? All pre-install checks performed? Install steps carefully read, and checked, one more time?
@stigatle@twtxt.net
You are making me want to visit Norway! I would have gone long ago if it weren’t because of my partner, she can’t handle the cold. Maybe I just need to leave her behind! 🤣
What would the best time to visit be?
@jlj@twt.nfld.uk
Your avatar is healthy on your pod now. Still doesn’t show well on twtxt.net, but it is just a matter of time now (caching, etc.), it is all good. 🎉
@prologic@twtxt.net I am thinking on calling in sick to work. 😂 Every time I order an iPhone, I take the day off on delivery day. On Apple events I normally use my lunch and break times all combined, to watch them.
@prologic@twtxt.net I knew you were short sided from day one I saw Yarn. On desktop everything is huge, and I assumed it was to cater short-sightedness. Also, you have enabled underlines on buttons on iOS, bold and bigger fonts, etc., so that was also a give away. Sorry if I digress, but, glasses wouldn’t help? I have to wear mine all the time, otherwise I am also near blind myself!
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I remember that time. I built my own mess, then used someone else’s mess (WordPress). I then switched to Jekyll when Tom released it, then to Hugo, which I use today. I also love static web stuff!
@movq@www.uninformativ.de But it makes sense, right? I spend way too much time trying to figure out who replied to whom. I treat twts replies as emails, pretty much.
@quark@ferengi.one By the way, you reply did not showed as a reply to a conversation on jenny this time. I wonder is something broke with the latest changes.
Is it Friday yet? I feel this week is as slow as a drying paint on wall, and it is only Tuesday! I know I should not want time to pass quick, as that get us closer to the inevitable, but geez!
@adi@f.adi.onl I don’t remember. I knew about twtxt for a long time. I often seek information about microblogs, and I believe I came across Yarn while browsing the Tubes.
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Perfect! Setting the display_filter did the trick. I have come across that SE yesterday while looking for answers, but I wanted to make sure there was nothing else I was missing to notice. Thanks! @quark@twtxt.netbros.com (#spngeda) Hmm, that’s mostly an issue of how mutt displays the Date header. The index should already display local time, only the pager shows the raw header: https://movq.de/v/8c92fff081/s.png To be honest, I’d like to keep it that way (i.e., Date stores the original stamp as it occured in the twtxt feed). To convince mutt to show local time here, you’d probably have to use display_filter: https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/516101
@movq@www.uninformativ.de, what will I need to do so that the timestamp for twts reflects local time. Right now it is UTC. Can it be done, or is that something from the twtxt spec?
@prologic@twtxt.net Maybe it could be as a twt with a time far i n the future
@movq@www.uninformativ.de I noticed that if I ran jenny -f on a cron job, and kept mutt open, messages will get duplicated (same message, time, different message-id). I run it now on a small script before opening mutt.
Our goal is to have 90% Native American (encompassing all the Americas from the Arctic to the Antarctic) music and up to 10% of music from those who specifically support Indigenous causes or have spent significant time learning Native instruments and styles. 💖 https://daybreakstarradio.com/
“I’m afraid I don’t have time at the moment to defend positions you’ve made up for me. Have a nice day.”
now that the doom is apparent, i’ve noticed that’s all people can talk about. its a good thing in some respects, i was never able to light a fire under anyone to mobilize a preemptive strategy. the question now is whether i can channel this energy into something productive in time to be effective. a lot rests on my shoulders, but i’ll take it if that’s what it takes to protecc my family.
these billionaires are fucking stupid. they think they can own space, but once they get workers up there its just a matter of time before stations start going rogue and breaking out of corporate / earth control.
I have had my vanity setup for the longest time. sour.is/x/toolbox
After Home-office time is over I will miss being able to multi-task during long meetings.
Look for overcast in Düsseldorf with a temperature of 22.7°C. No rain is expected at this time. Expect a gentle breeze from the WestSouthWest.
When tragedy strikes unexpectedly we cannot just go on as if nothing happened. Our minds need to be given time to deal with the blow. So it is necessary to pause and allow ourselves to process and recover.
I just timed it: 59 seconds for my Raspberry Pi to boot, 33 of which is waiting for my keyboard firmware to initialize. That’s just absurd.
lol. yeah i am in deep at the new job. probably need a little more time to settle in
What a terrible video. “Cancel culture” is not a thing, and when you hear someone complaining about it, 99% of the time they just don’t want consequences for bad behavior.
SPACE PROGRAM SPACE PROGRAM // time to focus on mathematics, APL, and music
If [you take] a look at how APLers communicate when they have ideas, you see code all the time, all day long. The APL community is the only one I’ve seen that regularly can write complete code and talk about it fluently on a whiteboard between humans without hand waving. Even my beloved Scheme programming language cannot boast this. When working with humans on a programming task, almost no one uses their programming languages that primary communication method between themselves and other humans outside of the presence of a computer. That signals to me that they are not, in fact, natural, expedient tools for communicating ideas to other humans. The best practices utilized in most programming languages are, instead, attempts to ameliorate the situation to make the code as tractable and as manageable as possible, but they do not, primarily, represent a demonstration of the naturalness of those languages to human communication. — aaron hsu

i’ve been meaning to read these notes, maybe putting the book on my ereader will be a better reminder than whatever i did last time 😅
this web discourse is pretty hilarious, time to stop checking twtxt.net tho XD i can just stick to my own subs ^^
nexus crashed again… this time i will disable c6 and see how it goes.
i have but one use of feddy per day, and i used mine this morning just to waste time
[nexus] resilver in progess since 2021-02-12T12:29:36-07:00. no estimated completion time.
Are you able to coax your webserver to add the charset to the content type header? Browsers are having a hard time thinking you are sending latin-1
content-type: text/plain; charset=utf-8
Started the #gsoc application for Plan 9 yesterday morning; spun up a new cpu server last night; poking at it today. I miss being able to spend more time on this.
@xuu@txt.sour.is Are you interested in getting on Signal and swapping contact details and such so we can discuss some ideas in collaboration in more real-time? You have great ideas, I think we could benefit from a bit more real(ish) time 😀
@prologic@twtxt.net yep. it actually extracts everything at parse time. like mentions/tags/links/media. so they can be accessed and manipulated without additional parsing. it can then be output as MarkDown
@xuu@txt.sour.is @adi@twtxt.net Private Messaging is finally done in the messages_poc_2 branch. If you have time to have a look and play with it locally and test it out that would be great. The plan is to release this as the first version which only supports “on-pod messaging” right now (cross-pod to come later).
@prologic@twtxt.net you think its time the version to get bumped? :)
Wishing everyone a wonderful, happy and healthy end-of-year time after all.
@prologic@twtxt.net just an off the wall question about hashes. why not use the time+message as it was in the original twtxt.txt file? is it because it’s just not store anyplace?
also how set in stone is using user+url? vs user@domain? the latter would mean the url could change without invalidating the hash.
@prologic@twtxt.netd so.. convert the 4 attributes in the struct to private, add getters plus some the other methods that make sense.
type Twt interface {
Twter() Twter
Text() string
MarkdownText() string
Created() time.Time
...
}
the patterns they control your mind those patterns take away my time
i think i need to adjust my ADD meds. having a rough time concentrating today :/
I’m on my stay-cation in Cork. 4 hour drive with dog. Got here by mid day I was worried about alternator but it made 14V most of the time.
Funny how not that long ago I made a remark to a friend who was keeping all his notes as txt files and now I am looking at doing exactly that. txt will probably be the one format that will be around for a very long time still.
My 2014 Android Moto-X is finally out-of-order - the battery life is close to flat-lining and when it boots it gets stuck for a really long time in the optimizing apps mode. The case is cracked. Goodbye old friend.
