oh man, this was great! little to no humidity and 63F outside with hills. felt stupid easy which i think being able to breathe easily really was the main reason.

i have been using grapheneos for a long time (maybe 7 years now?) and i would fully reccomend it to anyone who is OK with buying a new pixel device to run it on. the install instructions are really easy to follow and can be executed on any device that supports WebUSB https://grapheneos.org/install/web
Pinellas County - Long Run: 11.04 miles, 00:11:22 average pace, 02:05:22 duration
body was a bit worn out today. switched it up to walk-run after about 5 miles because i have a daddy-daughter dance this afternoon and did not want to be too stiff. met another runner who actually only lives about a mile or less from me. maybe i will try to meet with him after my business trip next week.

running grey until after dark, it’ll be around 40C until tuesday in the daytime so I can’t really run the main server while I’m sat in my office. i’ll have some pine quartz blades or my quattro arrays up some day to handle the lower power stuff so running grey doesn’t mean the whole system is offline.
@prologic@twtxt.net I tried hosting my own Matrix server once, I got wrecked! 🤣 and I believe that experience established a good base line for me to avoid self-hosting anything federated (except for a TWTX feed).
Skill issues aside (since I’m willing to learn), my internet speed is a huge limitation (I have less than 1Mb Up) 🫠 Then again, there’s the Running stuff off of my RPI's SD Card
😅 that’s just asking for trouble.
Seriously, I should get a proper Job, at least I’ll be able to afford my curiosities 🙃

DNF’d, but had a great time! i could have walked it out the last ten miles and still made the cut-off but after doing the math i would not have been done until about 1900 and we had guests visiting from out of town and i did not want to be even more of a wreck while entertaining. met a lot of great people and happy for the challenge.

@mckinley@twtxt.net agevault
uses age
, allegedly very secure (aiming to replace pgp
/gpg
). Comparing it with gocryptfs
, from the user perspective, agevault
seems simpler, though CLI exclusive. As the repository states, “Like age, it features no config options, allowing for a straightforward secure flow”. It would also run in all major OS platforms out of the box.
But agevault
is also very new. Though age
has been around for a while now, I don’t see an “audited” link (neither on agevault
, nor age
).
@prologic@twtxt.net My pod, which is running the same commit you are, does not return an error like that. It returns the same HTML it always has. Try it. I nuked my cache before restarting.
Edit: Oh wait, the plot thickens. I do get an error if I use curl or if I use a web browser that isn’t logged in. That’s good!
@prologic@twtxt.net OK, I just updated to commit 77d527
, which looks to be the same one you’re running right now. I forgot to blow away my cache before restarting, so I just deleted the cache
file and restarted.

some day, you’ll be able to download nix-on-android from f-droid and nix run git+https://git.cyb.red/pkgs/free-internet.flake and join the no se vende mesh collective.. something like that
i’m excited about how the new system is coming together. i’ve chosen bento as the system admin runtime. the centralized model simplifies some things and encourages people to setup their own (if small) binary caches. the whole thing is federated in the end and i think we can find some ways to make an HA bento. co-ordinator nodes i think are important for making a stable network. a spare laptop can easily buffer some power, run a secondary radio, and have an ethernet hookup. even a phone can make a nice one.

yarnd
that's been around for awhile and is still present in the current version I'm running that lets a person hit a constructed URL like
@prologic@twtxt.net What? I compiled, updated, and restarted. If you check what my pod reports, it gives that 7a… SHA. I don’t know what that other screenshot is showing but it seems to be out of date. That was the SHA I was running before this update.

There is a bug in yarnd
that’s been around for awhile and is still present in the current version I’m running that lets a person hit a constructed URL like
YOUR_POD/external?nick=lovetocode999&uri=https://socialmphl.com/story19510368/doujin
and see a legitimate-looking page on YOUR_POD, with an HTTP code 200 (success). From that fake page you can even follow an external feed. Try it yourself, replacing “YOUR_POD” with the URL of any yarnd
pod you know. Try following the feed.
I think URLs like this should return errors. They should not render HTML, nor produce legitimate-looking pages. This mechanism is ripe for DDoS attacks. My pod gets roughly 70,000 hits per day to URLs like this. Many are porn or other types of content I do not want. At this point, if it’s not fixed soon I am going to have to shut down my pod. @prologic@twtxt.net please have a look.
Pinellas County - Long Run: 5.36 miles, 00:10:30 average pace, 00:56:16 duration
missed my alarm. it was a late night and did not really want to get up. my chest was tight most of the run on top of the exhaustion, and the heat just zapped any motivation out of me. oh well, taper week.

You might have seen me popping up on IRC. This is how it looks:
That’s EZirc from the 1990ies. (It says it needs Warp 4, but runs fine on Warp 3.)
Lots of this old stuff still works (technically), but as @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org said: A lot of it really is dead. There’s not much going on anymore in Usenet.
Alacritty doesn’t support TABs. Running a multiplexer locally doesn’t work well when you run another on your remote session. Uuuuuuugh! Nothing is ever perfect.
you’ll probably get an Error 1011 🤦 … just copy and paste the link in a new tab if you can Screenshot of neomutt running Jenny
@bender@twtxt.net My index formatting is intact, probably because I still haven’t figured out how to set up my terminal to show RTL text correctly! 😅 but hey, that won’t be a problem anymore, I don’t feel like twting in Arabic. Sorry for the inconvenience.

@falsifian@www.falsifian.org the reason behind his sporadic disappearances is that he runs things from a Raspberry Pi, at home, I believe. That impacts reliability, I figure.

felt great today! temp was down to 78F and 80% RH, but there was an ever so slight breeze so it did not feel sticky. carbo loaded the day before so maybe that had something to do with it too, but i really have not been tracking my nutrition at all. kept it easy the first five or so miles and then bumped it up ever so slightly for the remainder. probably could have gone an even two hours but running on new shoes (hoka mach 6) and really have not broken them in yet. lots of hot spots and a lot of troubleshooting on the go.

OK I found this one, small enough, but where does it install to? can’t find the app, of any files of anything.
Being a total novice to Linux stuff….where is this file located and why don’t they prompt you for a folder location of the program? And why such a stupid name? Dozens to choose from and most over 300MB, not what I want - I just want Apache to run the index.html webpage or the index.php webpage. I do not need Javascript or Java programming editors….
Pinellas County - Long Run: 7.58 miles, 00:11:16 average pace, 01:25:22 duration
not as long as i would have liked. got a late start because, well, i was enjoying the sleep! then i saw at 0500 the rain was not scheduled anymore so i slept in. then it rained!
so this run was hot, no cloud cover, 90% RH and about 90F. it was brutal. but overall had to cut it short due to shivers all over the body. i was not going to push it when i may be overheating.
highlight: raced a youg boy in boca ciega park

i almost did not run this. my legs felt a bit work out and i was a little fatigued as well. my body battery was in the 90s so i looked at what garmin suggested and it told me to take a rest day. then i looked at my calendar for the week and made the call that a rest day could be on another day and to continue with just an easy run.
at the moment i am glad i did but we will see what future me thinks.
