In-reply-to » Hmm, mine also resolves a leading tilde in these variables. And if $HOME is not specified it tries to resolve the user's home directory by user.Current().HomeDir. Maybe that's overkill, I have to check the XDG spec.

Ok, the standard library implementation is wonky at best, at least in regards to XDG, because it really doesn’t implement it properly. https://github.com/golang/go/issues/62382 I stick to my own code then. It doesn’t properly support anything else than Linux or Unixes that use XDG, but personally, I don’t care about them anyway. And the cross-platform situation is a giant mess. Unsurprisingly.

In-reply-to » @bender Here's a short-list:

@prologic@twtxt.net I remember going through your “introduction to Golang”, I don’t remember the URL, but I vividly remember going through it, and I was lost at chapter one. So, about that “mastering” the core in hours, “I don’t believe you.” (insert I don’t believe you meme animated GIF here). LOL.

In-reply-to » @david @andros The correct hash would be si4er3q. See https://twtxt.dev/exts/twt-hash.html, a timezone offset of +00:00 or -00:00 must be replaced by Z.

@eaplme@eapl.me you wrote:

“That PHP snippet could be merged into https://twtxt.dev/exts/twt-hash.html”

Why, though? AFAIK @andros@twtxt.andros.dev’s client is on Emacs, @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org’s is on Python (and Golang, for tt2), @movq@www.uninformativ.de’s is on Python, and @prologic@twtxt.net’s is on Golang. All the client creator needs to know is in the documentation already, coding language agnostic.

i really wanna learn golang it looks fun and capable and i can read it kind of but every time i try it i’m immediately stuck on basic concepts like “what the fuck is a pointer” (this has been explained to me and i still don’t get it). i did have types explained to me as like notes on code which makes sense a bit but i’m mostly lost on basic code concepts

really wanna make an ssh zine app inspired by a telnet zine cms i found on github. i’m gonna probably go ahead with the telnet zine idea i have if i can get people for it but if i could build my own ssh mirror for it with golang and the charmbracelet wish library that’d be epic

In-reply-to » @bender Gave it a try on Termux same thing @doesnm uses and it worked 👍 Media

@doesnm@doesnm.p.psf.lt No it’s all good… I’ve just rebuilt it from master and it doesn’t look like anything is broken:

In-reply-to » @bender I built my own, a much smaller one with a multi stage build... shouldn't that do the trick? 🤔

@bender@twtxt.net here:

FROM golang:alpine as builder
ARG version
ENV HTWTXT_VERSION=$version

WORKDIR $GOPATH/pkg/

RUN wget -O htwtxt.tar.gz https://github.com/plomlompom/htwtxt/archive/refs/tags/${HTWTXT_VERSION}.tar.gz
RUN tar xf htwtxt.tar.gz && cd htwtxt-${HTWTXT_VERSION} && go mod init htwtxt && go mod tidy && go install htwtxt

FROM alpine
ARG version
ENV HTWTXT_VERSION=$version

RUN mkdir -p /srv/htwtxt
COPY --from=builder /go/bin/htwtxt /usr/bin/
COPY --from=builder /go/pkg/htwtxt-${HTWTXT_VERSION}/templates/* /srv/htwtxt/templates/
WORKDIR /srv/htwtxt
VOLUME /srv/htwtxt

EXPOSE 8000

ENTRYPOINT ["htwtxt", "-dir", "/srv/htwtxt", "-templates", "/srv/htwtxt/templates"]

Don’t forget the --build-arg version="1.0.7" for example when building this one, although there isn’t much difference between the couple last versions.
P.S: I may have effed up changing htwtxt’s files directory to /srv/htwtxt when the command itself defaults to /root/htwtxt so you’ll have to throw in a -dir whenever you issue an htwtxt command (i.e: htwtxt -adduser somename:somepwd -dir /srv/htwtxt … etc)

Honestly… not much. Have abandon two projects (both private) on Golang and one related to cryptography. My mostly languages are Python and Javascript (also can PHP). After writing code on Go i spend same time on fixing dumb errors

@movq@www.uninformativ.de If it still existed I bet the first thing he’d do is convert it to Golang 👌🤣
