In music, just because you play FAST doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re GOOD. Yet a lot of classical, jazz, and even pop musicians seem to operate under this assumption, as well as their audiences.
🎶 “Woken Furies” - Gunship https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDb6eNUPScU
The perfect music for late-night urban roving.
How truly wonderful! I went out tonight and the first thing I noticed was the temperature drop. It felt actually quite pleasing. What a welcome surprise, I didn’t expect that at all. It was warmer in the forst than between the fields. The tiniest breeze helped to cool off the surroundings I think. Right now, the temperature shows 23°C. It’s supposed to reach 18°C at 5 in the morning before it rapidly shoots through the sky again.
When I left the house I even saw the very end of a nice sunset. A bat was around, too. The several thousand fireflies delivered a fantastic show. It’s such a pity that I cannot show this to you. :-(
There were many frogs or toads around. Luckily, the light tan gravel road made for a good constrast to the darker hopping amphibians. So, I spotted them just in time. No animals were harmed.
The moon was out and lit up the scenery. I was perfectly chasing my own shadow for several hundred meters on a forest road. I had the moon right in my back. That moon light shadow felt magical. <3
It must have set a new record on picking up spider webs along the way. The threads around arms and legs always feel quite yucky. People were blasting music somewhere in town. You could here that noise in the entire forest. I found that rather annoying. All street lamps are operational again, so I got already blinded right at the entrance to the town. But other than that, this was a very nice evening stroll. Totally recommended. Already looking forward to tomorrow. :-)
Lazy Sunday. Working on pubnix admin training and updating my massive music library
@bender@twtxt.net Those damn foreigners shall not enjoy our German music, how dare they! Something like that.
The concept of synthesis is more useful than artificiality in connection with generative media tools. Synthetic fabrics have been used in the garment industry for decades, while nobody complains anymore that synthesized music is inferior to music played on acoustic instruments. So why are synthetic artworks of all kinds routinely dismissed as inferior to human-produced art?
Taking a break from coding and dev projects today and spend it organizing my 14,000 song music library I self-host with Navidrome
Added a Listening box to show currently playing, and last played from my self-hosted Navidrome Music Server!
@bender@twtxt.net So yeah, no, I do not have an inner monologue at all. Most of the time my inner mind is busy just replaying music or visuals (or at least it used to before I lost my sight, these days it just replays visuals and sounds), but there is never a time when I “talk to myself”, ever, I don’t ever think through something, a problem or an activity and have self-arguments. I just do.
Two mates and I went hiking yesterday. The sun was beating down on us, but luckily, it was also rather windy which helped to cool off. Unfortunately, we also encountered bucketloads of drunk hikers with hardcarts loaded full of beer who had to very loudly please everbody with their shitty taste of music. What a stupid tradition on 1st May public holiday over here. Other than that, it was a great hike.
I was pleasantly surprised that my trains were dead on time, so both super short times to switch connections worked out perfectly on both the way there and back. I did not expect this to happen at all and already braced myself for an additional half hour waiting time. Especially with the stupid Stuttgart Beer Festival right now. Even more drunk idiots everywhere and of course also in the trains. On the return journey, I learned about all sorts of family relations etc. in various Allgäu villages. Oh boy. At least nobody vomited, that’s a bonus.
Also, I sweated more on the first return Sauna-Bahn than on the entire hike combined. It was awfully hot in there.
Anyway, all in all it was a great time in the outdoors with my mates: https://lyse.isobeef.org/monrepos-favoritepark-hungerberg-ruine-hoheneck-2026-05-01/
@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org Really depends on the genre, I guess. 🤔 Quite a lot of “non-pop” music still uses the format “concept album”, I think. 🤔 But don’t ask me for any solid statistics. 😅
With all these new ways of digital publishing, I’m wondering for years why music artists still release entire albums. I would have imagined that most bands simply publish a new song whenever it’s good to go. But no, at least in my bubble, everybody still collects a bunch of new songs before throwing them as a collection into the crowd. I never used any of these streaming services, though, so maybe I’m just completely uninformed.
@bender@twtxt.net H-Blockx covered it, the original was by Snap! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Power_(Snap!_song) But it’s actually not my type of music at all. The high pitch refrain “I’ve got the power” is iconic and has somehow burned itself into my brain. Must have been a short circuit.
@aelaraji@aelaraji.com hey, hey! I saw you tinkering with ActivityPub, so I know you were well.
Glad to have you back here! No much has happened on twtxt.net-world. @prologic@twtxt.net is quite busy with large language models, and seeking further independence through capitalistic ways. @lyse@lyse.isobeef.org continues dazzling us with his clicks, @movq@www.uninformativ.de brings us interesting music, videos to see, and a sprinkle of home made computing here and there, and me… well, I continue bending (or trying to) things! 😂
Playing Troy Pierce - Tresor Berlin 3.3.17 at home.. just good music and #NixOS
❤️ 🎶: Sarhan by Gigi de Lana, KDR Music House
Made this a few weeks ago, just listened to it again and I quite like it:
https://www.uninformativ.de/music/2025-1-ebow/Fog.ogg
This is just one instrument: Electric bass guitar + EBow. And echo/delay on top. But it’s a single track, single take. It amazes me quite a bit how much you can do with that little thing. 🤯
and when suzuki airi world domination comes, you can consider yourselves ready because i showed you this video ;)
Weekend! Whooo 🤣 Having a few too many glassses of 🍷 listening to music on Youtube and playing Chess which I haven’t been playing much lately 😢

Elevator music with Fatboy Slim. I thank PSX for this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTuLj0Nyhs4
I went to the firefly party again and checked them out on a different path. Boys and girls, there were so many of them! Apparently, I took the wrong turn and the numbers dropped. Still several hundreds if not over a thousand, but I’m spoiled now.
On the way there I noticed an absolutely spectacular sunset. However, I didn’t bring my camera. Should have peaked through the closed shutters before I left.
It turns out the disco music from the next town over wasn’t only audible in the forest but is also free-to-air in my bed. :-( It’s earplugs time.
i love pinkpantheress so much she’s so cute and fun and tapped into every aesthetic and dance music sound i love. if you like house and garage and D&B music, check her out!!!! she absolutely knows her shit too btw she’s sampled basement jaxx and adam F

@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz i linked the normal length edit instead of the full 15 minute music video because i’m not gonna subject you all to that amount of my bullshit
(…15 minute version is a great watch though)
hacking jetbrains mono to include CJK characters from a noto font for stupid purposes (i listen to asian music and my conky sidebar has a lastfm widget so sometimes it shows asian text and jetbrains doesn’t render those. so i am frankensteining my way into making it do that)
@prologic@twtxt.net That’s an interesting premise in that article:
The fun has been sucked out of the process of creation because nothing I make organically can compete with what AI already produces—or soon will.
This is like saying it’s pointless to make music yourself because some professional player/audio engineer does a better job. Really, there’s always someone or something that’s better than you at a particular job.
If we focus too much on “competition”, then yes, you can just stop doing anything. I don’t know how common this mindset is, especially among artists or creative people. 🤔 I would have assumed that many writers, for example, simply enjoy the process of writing. Am I being too naive once more? 🤣
i started a little thing on my dreamwidth and called it a flash prompt box. basically it’s a limited time thing where people can prompt me for stuff i’m offering, like short fanfiction, photoshop-edited user icons, music recs, and a bit more! i’m having sooo much fun with it so far it’s been a blast just making stuff for friends :)
also more friends are making their own posts with the same concept which is SO cool to see
I do not agree with every decision the Internet Archive makes, but I consider it a very important tool, for Internet archival and preservation - to the point, it even influenced what licence I chose, for my media and websites.
Sadly they’re now facing another threat, in the form of litigious music labels, that they’re now trying to convince to stop, by collecting signatures here.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de Yeah, most of the graphical applications are actually KDE programs:
- KMail – e-mail client
- Okular – PDF viewer
- Gwenview – image viewer
- Dolphin – file browser
- KWallet – password manager (I want to check out
passone day. The most annoying thing is that when I copy a password, it says that the password has been modified and asks me whether I want to save the changes. I never do, because the password is still the same. I don’t get it.)
- KPatience – card game
- Kdenlive – video editor
- Kleopatra – certificate manager
Qt:
- VLC – video player
- Psi – Jabber client (I happily used Kopete in the past, but that is not supported anymore or so. I don’t remember.)
- sqlitebrowser – SQLite browser
Gtk:
- Firefox – web browser
- Quod Libet – music player (I should look for a better alternative. Can’t remember why I had to move away from Amarok, was it dead? There was a fork Clementine or so, but I had to drop that for some unknown reason, too.)
- Audacity – audio editor
- GIMP – image editor
These are the things that are open right now or that I could think of. Most other stuff I actually do in the terminal.
In the past™, I used the Python KDE4 bindings. That was really nice. I could pass most stuff directly in the constructor and didn’t have to call gazillions of setters improving the experience significantly. If I ever wanted to do GUI programming again, I’d definitely go that route. There are also great Qt bindings for Python if one wanted to avoid the KDE stuff on top. The vast majority I do for myself, though, is either CLI or maybe TUI. A few web shit things, but no GUIs anymore. :-)
@prologic@twtxt.net Yeah and I don’t get why … There’s no copyrighted music in it, no ads (at least I don’t see any) … Just weird. 🥴

Reviving a dead audio format: the return of ZZM
Long-time readers will know that my first video game love was the text-mode video game slash creation studio ZZT. One feature of this game is the ability to play simple music through the PC speaker, and back in the day, I remember that the format “ZZM” existed, so you could enjoy the square wave tunes outside of the games. But imagine my surprise in 2025 to find that, while the Museum of ZZT does have a ZZM Audio section, it recommends t … ⌘ Read more
@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz AKB48 and other spinoffs sound so great. I’m listening and whistling to them for hours now. I have no clue what the lyrics are about, but it’s just fantastic music. Thanks for introducing me to them. <3
@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz Cool, cool, congrats! I skipped around and noticed that you used some great background music. Do you have a list for me to look up? :-) Also, that’s a nice desktop wallpaper in the end.
I’ve made it a habit to always put on my noise cancelling headphones when going to bed (without music). It’s pure heaven. 😂 Silence and darkness. I fall asleep within minutes. 😂 Good night. 😴
@kat@yarn.girlonthemoon.xyz i also like the separation inherent with using dedicated devices. like i have a DAP, a fiio X1 ii from 2019, and it’s still going strong. it’s perfect for on the go music listening and i never have to worry about like going somewhere with no reception and the music drops out. it’s all local AND the battery lasts longer because i’m not using wi-fi or bluetooth or data. also i can directly access the file system and just add files anytime. this goes for my point & shoot and other devices too. i love this shit i’m such a nerd
@ionores@twtxt.net Opening the windows is the worst you can do with all that crazy smoke out there. But the music ain’t too bad. :-)
@movq@www.uninformativ.de Oh, a movqOS, that’s super cool! :-)
Yeah, glossy screens are straight from hell. :-D What’s this spooky wind chime background music?
Anyway, have great fun learning more and experimenting with this low level stuff!
