In-reply-to » Location Addressing is fine in smaller or single systems. But when you're talking about large decentralised systems with no single point of control (kind of the point) things like independable variable integrity become quite important.

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org indeed! There is no ā€œcentral authorityā€ acting as witness, and notary. The more I think of it… LOL.

This might be quite unpopular, but I truly dislike Wordle. The reason isn’t rooted on any psychological issue, it is much, much more simple: people share their Wordle result(s)—I figure they feel good about themselves—and for me it is only uneven, unaligned, wasteful noise. I don’t even want to show you an example, but I am sure you know what I am talking about.

Thank gods those posting their hideous squares have finally quieted down. LOL.

Oh, and you can’t imagine the level of control I am commandeering by restraining me from editing that previous ā€œmissing-one-backtickā€ twtxt. LOL!

In-reply-to » @bender I should put the template that is used by default as a file in the repo. Look at the source for now and you'll see šŸ˜…

@bender@twtxt.net LOL normally things (in the vanilla template) render like <time class="dt-published" datetime="2024-09-17T15:05:19+01:00"> 2024-09-17 14:05:19 +0000 UTC+0000 </time> the datetime=... atribute is in my local time UTC+1 then the text within the tag is in UTC+0

The thing is, I’ve been poking at the template as well, but nothing changes. I literally whole portionsm added in lorem text just to see if it would do anything, then twtxt2html -T ./layout.html <link to twtxt file> | less shows same thing as before! nothing changes. LOL I’m not sure I’m going at it the right way.

In-reply-to » Because I saw the nick on movq (@prologic, can't mention anyone outside this pod, by the way), I looked the user up: https://tilde.pt/~marado/twtxt.txt. I wonder if the "hashes" they are using will work out of the box with jenny.

@bender@twtxt.net hmm, I wonder if these are simply twtxts auto created from an ActivityPub feed. Ah, crap, they are. LOL.

@prologic@twtxt.net Yes very very strange! I truly don’t know where to start on that one 🤣 Must be one of those really weird edge cases. Thanks for your help on this, I can at least post normally now.šŸ‘Œ

I’ll check logging in etc tomorrow, time for bed lol 😓

Unfortunately not on that front. Still the same 404 posting errors and oddly occasional login errors.

That’s why I was wondering if using Go 1.22.4 could be an issue. I don’t know how exactly. Only way to test is to rebuild it with an older version I guess, which is why I did the make clean in the first place. Old habits die hard lol.

I’m still alive ! Here’s a quick, brainless recap dump before I switch back to the other side:

  • Been daily driving FreeBSD on the o(ther)ld machine for the last couple of days.
  • Read through the handbook, played around with jails, pulled on my hair because of network issues (I think I might have maybe fixed that) … etc.
  • Still procrastinating over migrating my Jenny/Mutt setup out there. until then, I’ll be getting my Twtxt fix reading through conversations over on the twtxt.net ✌
  • Gave a couple of Nostr based platforms a try, it was … not for me to say the least.
  • Started learning Emacs (I know, I’m in trouble LOL) and might even start twtin’ from there instead.

In-reply-to » Do you believe one can survive surfing the web using a text-based web browser? (i.e: Lynx or W3m) no CSS no Bling for at least 24 hours 😲

@bender@twtxt.net LOL! Been there, done that! I can go on for weeks without any of it. Not even a phone, I don’t have that many responsibilities to need one on me all the time. Life is much simpler like that.

In-reply-to » Do you believe one can survive surfing the web using a text-based web browser? (i.e: Lynx or W3m) no CSS no Bling for at least 24 hours 😲

Well! My 24 hrs without a GUI Web browser was quite of a nice experience.
As a matter of fact, and as long as I’m not doing any 3D work, I kind of don’t need gui applications as much as it feels like.

Even though, a couple of websites asked me to eff off because they need
JavaScript to work. Some others handed me a cold ā€œ402 Upgrade Requiredā€ client
error response… (LOL let’s not even talk about how Github repos looked
and felt like). I have managed to fix a couple of things I’ve been meaning to
for quite some time but never got, mainly to because of my browsing
habits. I tend to open a lot of tabs, read some, get distracted then
open some more and down the rabbit hole (or shall I say tabs) I go.

All in all, it was quite a nice experience.
How nice? It was an ā€œI’m dropping into a full TTY experience for another
24 hrsā€ kind of nice!

Although, I miss using a mouse already, but hey, I would have never
heard about gpm(8) otherwise.

This guy is just such an idiot lol.

  • There’s no such mass migration to ā€œthe southā€. Tons of people are leaving Mississippi, Louisiana, Virginia, and New Mexico for instance. I don’t know enough about the states with net influxes like Texas and Florida but I suspect they have policies that make it attractive for people to move there
  • Not everybody is able to take account of long-term trends when they make housing decisions. There are financial reasons, family reasons, educational reasons, etc that impact such decisions
  • But of course, most laughably, cheap energy is fast becoming a thing of the past, and so the problem isn’t ā€œsolvedā€ by cheap energy, it’s just kicked down the road. And ffs, cheap energy is literally causing the very heating that he pretends air conditioning will ā€œsolveā€ā€“like ā€œsolvingā€ your drinking problem by staying drunk all the time

This oversimplification to drive some kind of political point is so embarrassing coming from someone who pretends to be a university professor. It sounds like a teenage doofus from a 1980s movie talking. He well knows all these things, but he decides to present these views anyway.

@movq@www.uninformativ.de I was visiting Germany once, and saw a guy try to load his bicycle onto the bike racks they have on the front of city buses. There were rules about when you could do that, which were posted on the bus stop sign, and I guess the guy thought this was a time when he could do that. But no, the bus driver disagreed. The bus driver got off the bus with a rule book, flipped it open to what I guess were the rules about bikes on the bus, and showed him the rules. The guy pointed at the sign, the bus driver said no and pointed at the book, and they went back and forth for I don’t know how long. It felt a lot like these videos lol

In-reply-to » I may have misspoken in my haste/anguish. I don't know of any examples of Ben Shapiro advocating rape. I do know them of Jordan Peterson. He's known for that, but I've seen it myself. So, to be clear, I don't know if Ben Shapiro is a rape apologist and have no evidence of that. Wouldn't surprise me frankly because the set of ideas he does talk about tends to include being A-OK with crimes against women, but anyway.

@xuu@txt.sour.is LOL omfg.

This is the absurd logical endpoint of free market fundamentalism. ā€œThe market will fix everything!ā€ Including, apparently, encroaching floodwater.

I do have to say though, after spending awhile looking at houses, that there are a crapton of homes for sale for very high prices (>$1 million) in coastal areas NASA is more or less telling us will be underwater in the next few decades. I don’t get how a house that’s going to be underwater soon is worth $1 million, but then I’m never been a free market fundamentalist either so 🤷 Maybe they’re all watertight.
