In-reply-to » I don’t think calling the various PHP files making up “Timeline” a “Yarn pod” is accurate.

@bender@twtxt.net 😆 Would calling it a Single user Twtxt "Yarn Pod **Like**" software help you sleep better at night? And just in case things are not clear here, I’m being sarcastic (well, kinda…) and not trying to gaslight anyone. Think of my comment as Bromance or something like that LOL.

But seriously, Just like any UNIX-Like system to Unix™, as in non of them are UNIX™, but each of them is providing more or less similar experience and re-implementing what once was parts of “UNIX™ software” their own (more or less better) ways. Timeline is Yarn™ Pod like, (my personal take on the word pod is: “an instance of XYZ software acting an escape POD from X-BS for… ABC reasons.”) providing more or less of a similar experience, implementing some of Yarn.social Extensions, trying to add in some more …etc.

Otherwise, I don’t see the Yarn pod mention as some kind of malicious manoeuvre, but more of a tribute to what (might have) sparked inspiration for creating Timeline? Also, our friend @sorenpeter@darch.dk here has got a valid reason for using PHP (#tms7aka) so let’s let’s put our unease towards the language itself aside and maybe just help however/as much as we can in order to make internet (the World?) a better place.

@bender@twtxt.net You’d be surprised how many lifetime old accounts I still have, scattered all over the internet. I just don’t have much energy to go through deleting each and every single one of them. xD and here is a bonus image for LOLs

In-reply-to » @wbknl are you still in Russia? It could be hard mailing anything to there these days. I read your "russia is eternally cold", and became curious. Patagonia is the only place I know on South America that it has rounded mountains, though they can be anywhere. Originally from Chile, or Argentina? My curiosity doesn't need feeding, by the way. It's all good if it doesn't. :-)

I realise now that the referred post might just be fiction. I am slow Ferengi these days. LOL.

In-reply-to » So, I’m forced to use WhatsApp now. Someone told me: “Hey, I’ve been doing $thing, check my status!” Okay, fine, I open that and it shows a photo.

Lol, who use stories in IM? It’s crazy! Im only use for talking with parents and academy

In-reply-to » So I am really curious, now that I am building upon @sorenpeter's Timeline app, how other users write/add their twtxt, and how you follow conversations. Comment svp!

due to the gemini-centric nature of my setup, I don’t get webmentions. I just scrape the network and grep. maybe my aggregator will produce notifications at some point lol

In-reply-to » The Fediverse Is Getting Its Own TikTok Competitor Called Loops An anonymous reader quotes a report from TechCrunch: Similar to how Mastodon offers an open source, distributed version of X, the fediverse is getting its own TikTok competitor. This week, an app called Loops began accepting signups on its new platform for sharing short, looping videos. Still in the early stages, Loops is not yet open sourced, nor ... ⌘ Read more

i’m kinda bummed that i haven’t had the time/energy to get further into my media infrastructure projects. a federated tiktok with good decentralized storage would be a force to be reckoned with. i don’t have to be first though. solving the fundamental problems of decentralized video streaming will make for a better experience anyway. i also have too many projects so i can’t get after myself for being a little behind the curve in several areas at once lol

In-reply-to » Did Apple Just Kill Social Apps? Apple's iOS 18 update has introduced changes to contact sharing that could significantly impact social app developers. The new feature allows users to selectively share contacts with apps, rather than granting access to their entire address book. While Apple touts this as a privacy enhancement, developers warn it may hinder the growth of new social platforms. Nikita Bier, a start-up founder, called it "the en ... ⌘ Read more

Lol, this is actually a good thing by Apple. Doesn’t kill social apps at all, just prevents some harvesting of your entire address book by abusive apps like WhatsApp.

Lol, good but why why not /data/data/com.termux/files/usr/tmp?

Hurricane Helene is passing by. Close enough to give us a day off tomorrow, but not that close to cause major harm. Well, we think. Hurricanes often have a mind of their own, and decide changes on their path. Either way, I shall be back at work on Friday 😩. LOL.

In-reply-to » Location Addressing is fine in smaller or single systems. But when you're talking about large decentralised systems with no single point of control (kind of the point) things like independable variable integrity become quite important.

@lyse@lyse.isobeef.org indeed! There is no “central authority” acting as witness, and notary. The more I think of it… LOL.

This might be quite unpopular, but I truly dislike Wordle. The reason isn’t rooted on any psychological issue, it is much, much more simple: people share their Wordle result(s)—I figure they feel good about themselves—and for me it is only uneven, unaligned, wasteful noise. I don’t even want to show you an example, but I am sure you know what I am talking about.

Thank gods those posting their hideous squares have finally quieted down. LOL.

In-reply-to » @bender I should put the template that is used by default as a file in the repo. Look at the source for now and you'll see 😅

@bender@twtxt.net LOL normally things (in the vanilla template) render like <time class="dt-published" datetime="2024-09-17T15:05:19+01:00"> 2024-09-17 14:05:19 +0000 UTC+0000 </time> the datetime=... atribute is in my local time UTC+1 then the text within the tag is in UTC+0

The thing is, I’ve been poking at the template as well, but nothing changes. I literally whole portionsm added in lorem text just to see if it would do anything, then twtxt2html -T ./layout.html <link to twtxt file> | less shows same thing as before! nothing changes. LOL I’m not sure I’m going at it the right way.
